His number one tip? Be first! Your chances of scoring a rental are ten times better if you’re the first renter to apply. “This is a road race,” Jonas reminds viewers. “You’ve got to run as quickly as you can towards every step of the process.”

Okay, so you’re first off the mark, and the landlord accepts your application. But what if the rent is too high? Or utilities aren’t included? Or the place doesn’t come with parking? Jonas’ advice: remember that you can negotiate your lease. “You’d be really surprised what you can negotiate for, so keep an open mind,” he says.
